Jamie Oliver’s Italian Restaurant.

Jamie Oliver’s Italian Restaurant.Jamie Oliver Brisbane

Omg! It’s been such a whirlwind of eating out lately, the biggest highlight being our trip to Jamie Oliver’s Italian Restaurant in Brisbane.

My 2 gorgeous daughters surprise birthday present, a dining experience. We think we may have started a new tradition. This time last year we were dining in a Palazzo in Palermo, Sicily, with the Duchess & the Duke (as you do!)gorgeous daughters

So it was special to honour that memory with just those who shared it. Our little Girls Club :)) But each birthday we will find a gorgeous place to dine & welcome any who wish to join us….

As for Jamie’s, the lighting was great for patrons, but not so good for photography, (although you can probably capture the feel from these few poor portrayals.)antipasto deli

Two floors of Jamie’s Italian restaurant, with sandstone walls, copper lights &  booth seating, the open kitchen & glassed-in prep area are downstairs.

The top floor is at street level, with it’s bar & massive modern chandelier, where we were seated. Just next to the fabulous free-standing antipasto bar with it’s wealth of hung cured meats & wheels of parmesan. The ambience was easy, funky & energetic.cured meats

We loved our entrees. Bresola because we loved it in Sicily. Crispy polenta & parmesan cubes. And a kick-arse crab bruschetta, well worth ordering again.

Mains we found pretty ordinary…a little bit bland with the Bolognese, which held promise on the menu. A little bit dry with the lovely fennel, leek & lemon tortellini, just not quite saucy enough.

The feature of this course was the clever heart-shaped pork crackle, cooked to perfection, looped over the grilled pork chop with a nice little green apple slaw.pork crackle

And as Mojito’s & Creme Brulee’s were 2 of the sensations we tested & compared at every stop in Europe last year, we naturally had to celebrate with those cocktails.

In the absence of creme brulee on the dessert menu, we managed to find & share a few delicious substitutes. Like blackberry pavlova, lemon meringue cheesecake, & the girls had to try the brownie with Amaretti popcorn & ice-cream.crab bruschetta

The staff were great, the service was great. Check it out here if you want to go yourself…. www.jamieoliver.com/italian/australian/restaurants/brisbane

An Espresso Martini to finish & a pleasant surprise with the bill. Very well priced to encourage repeat patronage.

It started with a Sassy Business Lunch on Friday at The Edge on the Wharf.

Then a fun party for an old old friend who was visiting our fine shores in Alexandria Headlands. There’s nothing like hooking up with old friends & family…

And then coffee in Montville, which turned out to be a sleuth-like diversional tactic expertly manoeuvred by my eldest daughter who had travelled from the Gold Coast to collect me.happy birthday

On to Mary Caincross Park, with it’s beautiful Glass House Mountain views, for an even more beautiful surprise gathering of my nearest & dearest!

It is something to be greeted by your son jumping out from behind the bushes with a Pimms in each hand…lol.mojito's

The combined food display was mighty impressive, & the cake something special. All delicious & made with a love that was tangible.

The day was gorgeous, the games cheery, the special touches generous & restorative. I am humbly & happily grateful.pear & almond cake

On the actual birthday we head out for brunch at Murray’s in Maroochydore. A big day catching up.

A change of attire & off to Brissy to Jamie’s, as above.creme brulee

Lunch in Cotton Tree at Yabbie’s with a girlfriend & guess what I found?

Omg…the most sensational Creme Brulee I’ve savoured in Australia. Well what’s a girl to do? You guessed it…& I will never regret it!Clovelly Estate

Sweet pastries for morning tea at the stunning Clovelly Estate with Sunshine Coast Destinations group.

Dinner on the beach with departing precious family members. And finally, a home-cooked meal, pizzas with newly arrived family….pizza-homemade dinner tonight

Phew! Must go now. Got some get-out-there-in-the-fresh-air, brisk walking to do!!!! And lots of it!!!Mooloolaba beach
